“Too Darn Hot”—Stacey Kent
With tropical temperatures outside, no one in his right mind is going to sit down behind his laptop and write a Sunday Classics post. It’s just “Too Darn Hot.”
American vocalist Stacey Kent singing Cole Porter’s classic song from his 1948 musical “Kiss Me Kate.” This song appeared on Stacey’s gold selling album “The Boy Next Door.” The album is a collection of songs associated with about a dozen of Stacey’s “musical heroes” and contains the songstress’ pleasurable readings of love songs.
This Candid Records “The Boy Next Door” album was recorded between February 18th and 22nd, 2003 at the Curtis Schwartz Studios in Ardingly, England. The musicians accompanying Stacey Kent are saxophonist husband Jim Tomlinson on tenor, pianist David Newton, guitarist Colin Oxley, double bass player Dave Chamberlain and drummer Matt Home.
New Yorker Stacey Kent is proud of her career that has seen her go from performing in small pubs in England -- where my wife Ria and I first heard her sing at the Pizza hut in London during the 1990s -- to performing before thousands throughout the world.
Now I’m gonna sit back and enjoy this cool arrangement on today's extremely hot summer’s Sunday.
