Young Pianist Brandon Goldberg—”Fly Me To The Moon” (2016)

Over the past year I’ve written about many jazz musicians from past generations who started out on the road to fame as toddlers. The present generation fortunately offers some natural talents too. 12 Year old Brandon Goldberg from Miami, Florida, is such a talented kid. Here he adds some new ideas to the classic “Fly Me To The Moon.” It was written in 1954 by Iowan songwriter/composer Bart Howard Howard J. Gustafson, 1915-2004) and was originally titled “In Other Words.”

Brandon Goldberg started to play the piano at 3. His favorite genre is jazz, because, as he explains “It gives you the freedom to do anything.” He is a gifted improviser, arranger and even composes jazz. “When my fingers touch the piano I feel I can just do anything,” Brandon says. At present he leads his own Brandon Goldberg Trio.

“The idea of performing itself just excites me,” he stated in another YouTube video. “I love performing in front of an audience. And I don’t mind performing in front of nobody.”
