The album “Under Your Spell” is currently in rotation on over 230 radio stations in the USA and Canada.

The title of the first album by Thisbe Vos was Sophistication, and that might well describe the mood and manner of Under Your Spell, her second CD. As she sings five timeless classics and seven new tunes that she authored, Vos gives the impression of a singer-songwriter who has arrived at the top and who needs only more exposure to comfortably stay there.

Dutch-born Thisbe Vos has given us a stunningly good album of songs, mostly romantic, and mostly self-penned. She has immense talent as a songwriter, producing songs in the gasbook tradition in which she is obviously immersed.

After two weeks of promotion, “Under Your Spell” is at #26 on the US “CMJ” college jazz radio chart:

At the end of November, I had the opportunity to sing backing vocals for a Mills Brothers big band show in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

When I grew up in Holland I used to listen to Ella Fitzgerald. No matter what was going on in the struggles of every day life, I could always put on one of those songs for a couple of minutes and it would just make me feel a lot better about the world again.

We recently had a photo contest for my music video of “My Favorite Things”. I had had the idea to make a video with photos of my favorite things and the favorite things of people all over the world. It was great fun – we received over 500 funny, interesting and stunning photos.

I was recently posed the question “what is jazz, blues and swing and how do they relate to each other (since they sometimes seem difficult to tell apart)”. This also leads to the question “what is jazz”. Here is my own humble answer.

In February I was invited by Johnny Holiday to perform at The Cicada Club in downtown Los Angeles as part of the “Johnny Holiday Spectacular”.

Sophistication was just designated “Vocal CD of the Month” by veteran jazz producer, journalist and voting member of NARAS Arnaldo DeSouteiro.

It’s already been a couple of weeks since the album was released – there was such a whirlwind of activity around the release that I hardly had time to post. The release went off splendidly.

One day before the album release on 16 September, we auctioned off the first copy for sale on eBay.
